You know how it’s common to ask “what’s your favorite physical part about your SO?” My favorite part of my husband is his armpit.
Every night when we get into bed, I find my little nook where his shoulder meets his arm. It feels like it was made just for me. I can always be comfortable there, where it seems like it would be awkward and uncomfortable. I feel safe there. The worries of my day, my week, my life disappear and I can rest.
A few months ago, I came to bed late, probably after getting work done. I crawled into bed and my husband was asleep on his side, his back to me. I started to curl up myself as my husband, still entirely asleep, rolled over onto his back and extended his left arm so that I could crawl into my spot. I crawled in there, but took a while to fall asleep that night. I lie in my spot thinking how wonderful he is and how lucky I am to have a husband who unconsciously manages to give my my spot so I can feel safe as I go to sleep. In that moment, I was reminded of just how loved I was.
