Her tree bloomed in Autumn,

When everything else began to die.

Her tree bloomed in Autumn,

A solitary crow, her only ally.

Her tree bloomed in Autumn,

Bright pink slashing the rust and gold.

Her tree bloomed in Autumn,

A newborn infant mewling at the old.

Her tree bloomed in Autumn,

A gift declared “heaven-sent.”

Her tree bloomed in Autumn,

Strong branches among the tired and spent.

Her tree bloomed in Autumn,

She vowed to now be grateful.

Her tree bloomed in Autumn,

Though she was alone, a too-late May Pole.
